Something hilarious to wet your pants to :)
Ever since first buying guild wars I have had many ups and noobishly bad downs, now ladies and germs welcome to my most recent!
There is a lesson to learn here:
1)Do not try to top off how many ectos you have in the way that I did to the other person - you may regret it.
2) Some players are extremely quick picking things up when you drop them...Sometimes quicker than you...
The Story:
I was 55ing with an SS necro I met in ToA (as you do) and we got upto the smites. The SS necro (Necro of Acension) says: "I have 2 ectos how many do you have?"
Instead of replying I thought it be clever to just drop my ectos to make my point of "hehe I have more ectos than you" and then heres wt happened:
Note: my character is NOT necro of acension
If the image is too small, just click on it and be ready to laugh like hell!
Yup out of big headedness I lost 7 globs of ectoplasm due to a fast picking SS necro.
He was then kind enuff to give them back to me
I will never do this sort of thing agen...Learnt my lesson
Anyone else done a similar thing?

You should realise people are conditionned like pavl. dog when it comes down to ectos. Once they see a glimb of a glob or the text, the body will act surprisingly fast. In a fraction of a sec they pick it up, most of the time the brain will react a few seconds after and the player realises he found an ecto.
Respect to the necro for playing fair.

There's a thread in the Screenshot Expo section specifically for everyone to post their in game funnies, this has no place in the Riverside section.
Don't suppose a mod could move this or something?....

Yes. Keep the name there please, I want to PM him ingame and congratulate him for having the balls to give back 7 ectos. The rules only state that posting names is illegal when you are saying something bad about the person.

well with the update a few weeks ago i was able to bind keys to pick up stuff/target on the fly. makes chest running a bit faster.
i didn't lose my item but in a chest run someone wanted me to drop a GPB that i just got. not paying attention the mob i just ran past was still comming my way. so i opened the inventory to drop it and noticed i was less then 30% life. just had my mouse over and about to drop it and died... oh thank goodness for that 1 second delay....

I don't know about a few weeks ago... I had a key bound to pick up items for months now, way before the GUI update. Definately quite useful, and yeah, the second you see something, especially something valuable (like ecto, gold items, dyes, etc.), it's insta-grabbed.
I'd just suggest never dropping anything on the ground unless you're sort of fine with it disappearing.

Some other day I stumbled accross a bug in Sorrows Furnace. In the room where you can find the fire djinn in one of the quest I suddenly floated above the ground could still turn, dance, ... but not move out off my position. I was very weird, took some screenies while a guild was standing next to me but actualy on the ground.
Then my guildie starts dropping items to the ground, which off course I can't pick up because I'm floating above. So I think, lets have a laugh and I drop one of my superior monk runes I recently found.
Now
as soon as I drop it dissappears, its nowhere anymore, even my guildie saw it dissappear, since then I've never drop anything anymore ever. But it was so weird, we still laugh with it till today.

one guy asked me to go outside and show him my fellblade, he dropped a crap one so i ran back and dropped mine, right when i am about to pick it up he shadow steps to me and picks it up, i ask for it back and he says.. 50k.
i talk to him for a while then i report him, then i try to make further contact with him to try get my item back (fellblade priced at over 100k) and he says he doesnt speak english very well, when he was speaking it fluently before....

hhaha, i love it, when i do chest runs by a chest i always press semicolon + spacebar rapidly incase anyone decides to be cute and try to drop a gold they already have (to trick you into thinking its a gold chest and someone else opening it only to find its likely not)
for those of you who don't know semicolon by default selects the nearest item, spacebar makes you pick it up. owned

If people are dropping items for any reason, they deserve to lose it.
The whole dropping/picking up thing is extremely stupid and childish in my opinion.

I have my "ç" key mapped to "target nearest item".
It never fails! It was a lot of fun in the Dragon Event, i just stood there by the henchman and as soon as a present dropped jus ç, spacebar. Most ppl trying to fight with me for the presents just quited after some time.
